01 / OVERVIEW

Surfacing for every part of a commercial site

Car parks take the heaviest wear on most commercial sites. We lay tarmac car parks for offices, retail units, schools and housing developments, including bays, turning areas and routes for deliveries.

Industrial yards and access roads see different pressures again, with HGVs, forklifts and regular turning traffic. We surface yards, access roads and loading areas to take that weight, along with the footpaths that connect them, so the whole site is finished to work as one.

02 / COMMERCIAL TARMACADAM

A specification to suit the traffic

Every commercial tarmac job starts with the base. We build up a sub-base, binder course and surface course to suit the ground and the loads the tarmacadam will carry.

A car park used mainly by cars and light vans needs a different build-up to a yard or access road used by HGVs and plant. Where heavier vehicles are expected, we specify a thicker base and binder course so the surface holds up under that weight, rather than cracking or rutting.

Commercial car park with line marked bays and kerbing01

Drainage, line marking and kerbing as one package

A car park or yard needs more than a flat surface. Falls and drainage have to be right so rainwater runs to gullies rather than pooling or running off site, and we build that into the levels when we lay the base.

Once the surface is down, we handle the line marking and kerbing too, including bays, directional arrows, disabled bays and kerb lines, so you are not coordinating several contractors for one job.

  • Falls and drainage designed into the base
  • Car park bays, EV bays and disabled bays marked out
  • Directional arrows and other markings
  • Kerbing to define bays, islands and site boundaries

Keeping your site open while we work

Most of our commercial clients need to keep trading, so we phase the work in sections rather than closing a whole car park or yard at once where that is possible.

On busier sites, careful sequencing and clear signage help keep disruption down. We talk through access, parking and timing with you before work starts, so you know what to expect each day.

Traffic management barriers around tarmac surfacing work on a commercial site03

Health and safety and traffic management

Commercial and industrial sites bring their own hazards, from HGV movements to pedestrians and site vehicles sharing the same space. We put traffic management and barriers in place around the work area, and we plan deliveries and plant movements to keep everyone on site safe.

Facilities managers and site managers can tell us about any site specific rules or inductions in advance, and we will work to them.

FAQS

Frequently asked questions

01

Can you work while we stay open?

In many cases yes. We phase car park and yard resurfacing in sections and plan access routes so part of the site can stay open. Tell us how your business operates and we will plan the work around it where we can.

02

How long does a car park resurface take, generally?

It depends on the size of the car park, the condition of the existing surface and whether any base repairs are needed first. Resurfacing an existing car park is often quicker than a full rebuild from the sub-base up. We will give you a timescale for your site once we have seen it.

03

What affects the cost of commercial tarmac work?

Cost depends on the size of the area, the specification needed for the traffic using it, whether that's cars or HGVs, the condition of the ground and existing surface, and whether drainage, line marking or kerbing are included. We provide a free, no-obligation quote once we have seen the site.

04

Do you do the line marking as well?

Yes. We mark out car park bays, EV and disabled bays, directional arrows and other markings as part of the same job, so the surfacing and the line marking are handled by one contractor.

05

Do you work for local authorities?

Yes, local authorities are among the customers we work for, alongside businesses, housing developers and homeowners. Get in touch to discuss a council or public sector surfacing project.
